What We DoCommunity Investment Strategy

The Community Fund

Many people in our community face difficult personal challenges. It could be a frail senior fighting loneliness and poverty, a teen in conflict with his parents, a women suffering spousal abuse, a newcomer discouraged by a lack of opportunity, or an unemployed father wondering how he's going to feed his family.

Challenges such as these require integrated and holistic solutions that draw on the collective resources of our entire community. No one agency or program can do it alone.

That's why United Way's Community Fund is so essential.

When you give to United Way's Community Fund, you help our whole community strengthen individuals and make Peel Region a better place for all of us. That's because United Way not only strategically invests your donation in programs and services that meet immediate needs but also focuses on long-term solutions that tackle the root causes of our most complex social problems. The Community Fund provides an integrated and holistic circle of care for our community.

Five funding priorities.

Based on extensive research and broad community consultation, the Community Fund focuses on these five important human care needs:

  • Strengthening families and children
  • Helping abused women and children
  • Alleviating hunger, homelessness and poverty
  • Supporting seniors to live healthy and independent lives
  • Helping newcomers and immigrants to settle and integrate
