The Community Fund provides resources for the United Way’s vital work in serving the 1.3 million people who live in Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga. Through the Community Fund, United Way helps meet not only immediate needs but also invests in initiatives and programs that tackle the underlying causes of Peel’s most challenging social issues.
The Community Fund represents donations made during the annual campaign that remain in Peel Region and are not directed to other United Ways or specific charities. In 2013/2014 United Way of Peel Region will invest $7.2-million in programs, services and initiatives that meet the organization’s funding priorities.
Why United Way?
When you invest in your community through United Way's Community Fund you can trust that your dollars are being strategically invested where they are needed most:
- United Way supports a network of 54 human services agencies and funds 91 programs and services.
- United Way brings together all areas of community – business, government, labour, academia, school boards and others – to address social issues at the root cause level and develop effective, long-term strategies.
- United Way’s Community Investments team adds tremendous value to your donation. They develop a highly targeted investment strategy based on in-depth knowledge of social issues, extensive research, awareness of community need and an ability to identify, address and alleviate existing gaps.
- United Way measures outcomes in its investment areas and reports these back to donors. We have rigorous standards of excellence for performance and report outcomes annually.
