What We Do

United Way of Peel Region works to support lasting change within the community. To achieve that goal, we must not only meet the immediate needs of our vulnerable and at-risk residents, we must tackle the root causes of the problem. We examine the causes of social problems such as poverty, discrimination, family violence, and isolation and work with our community to develop and implement solutions.

Our support allows independent programs to provide prevention, intervention, crisis management and counseling support to in-need members of our community. Our partners offers a variety of services designed to strengthen families, empower children, reduce hunger, eradicate homelessness, ease the effects of poverty, engage with seniors to encourage health and independence, welcome newcomers as they settle in our community.

United Way uses a five-pronged integrated approach to create sustainable social change.

Invest United Way supports 99 well-managed human care services and programs (delivered through 53 community agencies) that are focused on meeting community priorities.
Lead Support community-based partnerships as they tackle complex social issues such as poverty, opportunities for newcomers, and early childhood development.
Train Develop the skills of our agency staff and volunteers to provide a strong, sustainable human care network to the community.
Advocate Seek out public policy changes to eliminate inequity and expand opportunities so individuals can fulfill their potential.
Leverage Strengthen the use of vital resources and shared capital to better serve the community.

We are working to build a better community by bringing people and organizations together to work on issues that affect Peel Region. Contact us today for more information about our programs, or follow the links to read more about specific targeted initiatives.
